We are thrilled to announce the creation of our first-ever scholarship fund, named in honor of Mrs. Mary Gibbs. Who is Mrs. Gibbs? She was one of the first people I met when I started the organization. I vividly remember receiving a message from a family member in 2016, informing us that Mrs. Gibbs’ neighbor was overcharging her for lawn care. I went over to mow her lawn, and she was pleasantly surprised to learn it was free. From that day on, I regularly mowed her lawn. Over time, we grew close, and I affectionately called her my adopted grandmother, as both of my grandmothers had passed away by then.
There is even a photo of Mrs. Gibbs with us that went viral in 2017, amassing over 2 million likes. She always got a kick out of that. The moments we shared after mowing her lawn, sitting on her porch, and talking about life were truly special. Every time I posted, “Today I did Mrs. Gibbs’ Lawn,” the Raising Men and Women Lawn Care Service family online eagerly awaited a new picture of her. Everyone loved her.
Sadly, she passed away two years ago. To honor her memory, we have named this scholarship after her.
