Earned Shirts
Promoting Service, Earning Swag
Kids can earn different shirts as they take on our 50 Yard Challenge
This year we’re excited to reintroduce “Earned Shirts,” inspired by the concept of boy/girl scouts earning badges. Kids in our program will have the opportunity to earn various of shirts for different achievements. Initially, we’re launching 3 shirts: one for our “Book Club”, another for “Good Grades.”, & “Recycle”
All shirts will be available in both Raising Men & Raising Women shirts.
How can kids earn each shirt:
- For kids to earn their “Good Grades” shirt, they can send in a photo demonstrating their outstanding academic achievements. We’re excited to honor their commitment and effort in school. Even if your child improves from a D to a C grade, we celebrate that progress as well! Personally, I was never an A or B student.
- The “Book Club” shirt is another exciting addition. Kids interested in this can register and share their book preferences. We’ll select an age-appropriate book and send it to them. After reading it , they’ll create a video answering a few questions about the book which we will share with you the RM/RW family . Successful completion earns them the special “Book Club” shirt. Someone mentioned last time library cards. If your child takes a picture with one, they will get their name put in twice for the draw that I mention below
The third shirt that children have the opportunity to earn is the “Recycling Shirt”. To receive this shirt, they need to:
- Gather a total of 20 bags of recyclable materials.
- Take these bags to their local recycling center.
- While there, snap a photo wearing their RM/RW shirt along with the collected bags.
This task doesn’t require collecting all 20 bags at once. They can gradually accumulate them over multiple visits until they reach the total of 20. If they need recycling bags, we are happy to provide some. A helpful tip: gather items like cans and plastics for recycling.
Our U.S.A shirt. To earn this shirt, kids need to choose a historic figure from United States history, pick 4 of the six questions below and answer them in a 2-5min video. The video can be both fun and engaging.
Questions:
- Who they are
- What are they known for
- What was their impact on the country
- What impact does this person/figure have on YOUR life?
- How does learning about this person/figure change or impact your way of thinking and how you live YOUR life?
- What obstacles or challenges the historic figure encountered and had to overcome.
Some Examples To Pick From:
- People like Martin Luther King, Jr. , George Washington , Henry Ford, Walt Disney, Jesse Owens, The Wright brothers, William Boeing, Helen Keller, Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks, Maya Angelou, Sally Ride. It’s so many to pick & talk about .
- Note: Kids must be in their Raising Men/Women Shirt when submitting holding a sign for which everone they are submitting for. Example : If they are submitting for the book club shirt, have them holding a sign saying “Book Club”.
